Gene Chaban is a Boston-based sound designer and dialogue editor, originally from Ukraine.

His credits include Severance Season 2 (Apple TV+) and the VR game Nock, among others.

He works across documentaries, games, commercials and brand films, specializing in dialogue editing, sound design and field recording.

As a dialogue editor he has worked across English, Ukrainian, Russian, Spanish and Tagalog — collaborating with native speakers to ensure linguistic and cultural authenticity in every language.

Every project he takes on is built around one goal — emotionally resonant sound that serves the story.

“Gene brought a fresh new sound to Nock that helped our DLC content really pop. He’s easy to work with and just flat out makes cool sounds.”

- Christopher Lane/ Audio Lead at Nock

Collaborative and dedicated, Gene is incredible to work with! The level of attention to detail he pours into his work is unmistakable, resulting in sound designs that are a testament to his skill.

- Kacey Layson/ Director of Kilig!

Gene is an absolute wizard! He has the capacity to hear the emotions you are trying to deliver as an artist and bring them out with his own use of sound in exactly the right way. He is efficient, professional and thorough while remaining very sensitive to the work and the artist’s wishes.
